C. 1886 and Repro Pump
Welte instruments received high acclaim from royalty, musicians, and the general public. The company's reputation spread throughout Europe and soon a New York showroom was established in 1865. The customer list for these machines included names such as Vanderbilt, P.T. Barnum, and Mellon, not to mention many ruling heads across Europe. Welte pieces today are among the most highly prized and are often the pinnacle of private collections. This specific machine was manufactured in Freiburg Germany in 1886, and it believed to be one of the very few Style 3 machines still in existence of such rare quality. There are 134 organ pipes, a base drum, cymbal, tympani, snare drum and triangle.
